Hi, I am Patricia. I have been a writer since elementary school. I am 72 years old and spent most of my working years in clerical work. I never really liked it, but it paid the bills, so I kept going and just dreamed of the day I could write full-time.
I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis when I was 42 years old. I was taking a relaxing shower, and when I stepped out, a wave of intense pain hit my back. My boss insisted I go to the doctor, and that is when this whole journey started.
I tried physical therapy, used a TENS, applied heat and ice, went to a pain clinic, had a chair massage, and tried pain creams. Of course, I took OTC and prescription medications.. As my arthritis progressed, I needed higher doses of pain relief.
Now, I am in chronic pain, and it affects everything that I do. I am trying dietary modifications such as eating less sugar and red meat. I can’t walk for too long, but I do lift weights and ride a stationary bike.
I married my husband, Mark, in 2004. We enjoy day trips, attending plays and concerts, watching tennis and football, and having a good restaurant dinner.
Now, I want to share my journey and help as many people as I can. That’s why this blog was created. Come along with me and let’s share tips, personal experiences, or just hang out. No matter how bad your situation is, there is always something to be thankful for.
