I am chronically sleep-deprived and when I find something that is going to help me sleep better, I am ready to buy it.
My arthritic hands and back hurt constantly and there are many nights I am getting up at midnight and either getting in my rocking chair or having a late snack in order to get to sleep.
I take quite a few medications at bedtime, but there are nights I am still hurting and I need to take some Tylenol™ or sit in my office chair with my feet elevated.
I’ve been studying the gravity blanket and I like what I’m seeing. To be able to kick arthritis pain to the curb and get some quality sleep, would certainly put me in a better mood.
When you’re shopping for your gravity blanket, a general rule of thumb is that it should be 10 percent of your body weight. It doesn’t have to be exactly 10 percent, but try to come as close to it as you can.
I chose the 12-pound because I was just trying it out to see if I liked it. Warmer weather is coming so you may not feel like using blankets, but this cooling blanket may be just what you need.
A superior product like this doesn’t come cheap so you’ll have to decide if it is worth the cost to be able to sleep better. I found this gravity blanket on sale at my local department store. I have been sleeping better during the night and it feels good not having to get up and sit in my office chair because my back won’t stop hurting.
What is a Gravity Blanket?
Gravity is a premium-grade, therapeutic weighted blanket that harnesses the power of deep touch stimulation to gently distribute deep pressure across your body. Engineered to be around 10% of your body weight, Gravity helps relax the nervous system by simulating the feeling of being held or hugged.
When you’re putting the gravity blanket on your bed, you may prefer to use it underneath the covers or place it on top. I like the top better because it is easier to pull it up around my shoulders.
It turns out that the gravity blanket can be used for a lot more than just insomnia. Let’s look at some of the other benefits of a Gravity Blanket:

Makes Travel More Enjoyable
Traveling is enjoyable but there are some things that get on my nerves. If I am in the airport, it is so noisy I can’t hear myself think. I am definitely one of those are-we-there-yet kinds of people, and that’s because my back or neck is so painful.
When I am riding in the car and it’s time to stop and stretch or use the bathroom, I am so stiff I feel like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz.
This is where a weighted travel blanket can really come in handy. The soothing weight of a Gravity Blanket can prompt your body to produce the feel-good chemical serotonin. If you’re cold all the time like me, it’s warm under that gravity blanket and it just feels like a big hug.
Helps Reduce Tingling of Restless Leg Syndrome
Hubby has restless leg syndrome and when it flares up, he feels the need to move his legs constantly. It is best described as a “creepy-crawly” feeling.
You may be experiencing the same thing and may have tried other remedies, such as compression socks. These socks can really help, but they are often too tight and too hard for arthritic hands to put on correctly.
A weighted blanket gives you the deep pressure you need without any constriction.
Summary
Check out these gravity products. They are certainly not cheap, but I have found that as my arthritis progresses, I need quality products that will relieve my arthritis pain. There are different options to choose from, so do your research on each one and order the gravity blanket that is right for you.
